Privacy
Plain-language privacy summary for a small retail business in Canada. This page explains the approach we intend to take as the shop and website move from opening phase to full operation.
Who we are
Titivillus is a fine paper and art supply business preparing to operate in Lethbridge, Alberta. This policy describes how we expect to handle information you share by email, in person, through the website, or through payment and booking tools as they come online.
What we collect
- Contact and order details — name, email address, phone number if you give it, billing or pickup information, and the content of orders or special requests.
- Opening alerts — if you ask to be on a mailing list, we keep your email (and name if provided) only for those messages until you unsubscribe or we retire the list.
- Technical data — our hosting provider and any analytics we enable may log standard server data (e.g. IP region, browser type, pages viewed). We do not sell that data.
Why we use it
We use information to answer questions, prepare and fulfil orders, arrange pickup, process payment, send updates you asked for, improve the website, meet legal obligations, and reduce fraud or misuse.
Sharing
We may share information with service providers who help us run the business — for example payment processors (such as Square), email delivery, or web hosting — only as needed for that purpose and under contracts that require them to safeguard it. We do not sell personal information.
Retention
We keep records only as long as they are needed for accounting, tax, returns, customer service, or reasonable business continuity, then delete or anonymize them where practical. Final retention periods will be set with the shop’s accounting and legal needs in mind.
Your choices
You can ask what information we hold about you, request corrections, or withdraw consent for non-essential uses such as marketing email. Contact us using the details published on the site once the shop is live. If you are unhappy with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the relevant provincial privacy office.
Cookies & analytics
We aim to keep the site technically simple. Initially that means using only cookies or storage that are necessary for the site to work. If optional analytics are added later, we will identify the tool here, explain what it collects, and note any opt-out path. Embedded payment or booking tools follow their own provider policies when you use them.
